Candle wick

TCR series candle wick – uncompromising quality!

TCR wick is made of 100% pure cotton combined with paper threads, without chemicals or any treatment with harmful substances such as chlorine.

The special wick structure allows for exceptionally clean combustion, without unnecessary soot or smoke, and prevents the fungus that sometimes forms at the top.

The innovative TCR series wicks are specifically designed for use with vegetable waxes but are also suitable for paraffin wax candles and various wax blends.

They are ideal for use in colored and scented candles, and do not contain an iron core (Pb-free), making them a safe and ecological choice.

All wicks come in a uniform length of 12 cm and are available in a variety of thicknesses – the larger the number, the thicker the wick and fits a jar with a wider diameter (see table below).

Whether you are just starting out in candle making or have experience with other wicks, we invite you to switch to TCR wicks and enjoy a new, higher quality, and more environmentally friendly experience.

As with any product, we recommend testing and customizing the wick according to the type of wax, the diameter of the jar, and the amount of scent in the candle.

Starting recommendation: For S300 wax with 5% scent (for working with SP500 wax, it is recommended to choose one thicker wick):

TCR 15/08: For jars up to 40 mm diameter
TCR 18/10: for jars up to 50 mm diameter
TCR 21/12: For jars with a diameter of 50-55 mm
TCR 24/14: For jars with a diameter of 60-65 mm
TCR 27/16: For jars with a diameter of 65-70 mm
TCR 30/18: for jars with a diameter of 70-75 mm
TCR 33/20: For jars with a diameter of 75-80 mm
TCR 36/22: For jars with a diameter of 85-90 mm
TCR 39/24: For jars with a diameter of 90-95 mm

Wick manufacturing process

The process of making candle wicks is a critical step in making quality candles, directly affecting how they burn, the intensity of the flame, and the burning time.

Wicks can be made from different materials such as cotton, wood, or synthetic fibers, with each type having advantages depending on the type of wax and the intended use of the candle.

Step one: Choosing the material

The most common material for wicks is cotton, due to its ability to absorb wax effectively and burn steadily. Sometimes, wicks may include paper threads, a metal core (such as zinc or copper), or be coated with materials that stabilize combustion.

Step two: spinning and braiding

After selecting the material, the cotton fibers are spun into thin threads, which are woven together into a uniform and strong structure.

The thickness and density of the braid determine the burning rate of the candle.

Thicker wicks are suitable for wide candles or soy wax, while thin wicks are better for small candles or paraffin.

Step Three: Wax Coating

After weaving, the wicks are dipped in hot wax (such as paraffin, beeswax, or soy wax).

This step stiffens the wick, improves its ability to absorb fuel during combustion, and prevents folding or collapsing during use. After coating, the wicks are dried and cut to the desired length.

Step Four: Quality Checks

Before the wicks are packaged for marketing, they undergo combustion tests to ensure that they provide a stable flame, do not produce unnecessary smoke, and do not extinguish prematurely.

The process of making wicks is an art in itself, in which every detail affects the experience of using the candle.

Choosing the right wick ensures smooth combustion, maximum utilization of the wax, and the creation of a pleasant, bright atmosphere.

Summary

The process of manufacturing candle wicks is a vital step that directly affects the quality of combustion, the intensity of the flame, and the lifespan of the candle.

It includes several key steps: selecting the raw materials, spinning and braiding the fibers, coating with wax to insulate and improve absorption, and finally, rigorous quality testing.

Every step in the process is designed to ensure that the wick functions optimally, burns stably, and does not emit unnecessary smoke.

Choosing the right wick according to the type of wax and the size of the candle will ensure a quality user experience and allow for maximum utilization of the combustion materials.
