Warnings:
-
The raw materials are for use in making candles only. If any of the raw materials come into contact with the skin/eyes, it is important to wash the area thoroughly with soap and water. If redness and/or irritation begins in the area, monitor and see a doctor if necessary.
-
Keep out of reach of children under 13.
-
Wax at 85 degrees may cause burns. Keep children at a safe distance from it and in a place where no child or animal can spill it during the preparation process - if you are working with children, you can also work at a temperature of 70 degrees, as stated in the instructions.
Preparation instructions - candle making kit:
- Preparing the jars: Place the jars on a wooden surface (preferable but not required). Glue the wicks to the jars with the stickers and center them using the wooden sticks with the hole in the middle.
- Preparing the candles in the microwave (preparation in two batches): Heat half a kilo of wax in the microwave until it becomes liquid, remove, stir and check the temperature (it is important to make sure not to heat too much and not to exceed 85 degrees because this can damage the wax). If you need to heat again, heat for about 10 seconds at a time, stir and check the temperature until you reach the desired temperature.
-
Note: If you are doing the activity with children or are simply short on time, you can heat the wax only to 70 degrees and add the scent at this temperature.
-
Bain-marie preparation: Place the melting pot in a pot with a little water, heat and wait for the wax to become liquid, stir and measure the temperature until you reach the desired temperature and remove the melting pot from the water bath.
- Adding color and fragrance: Add 5%-10% fragrance at 85 degrees (or 70 degrees if it's a children's activity or you're short on time) (a whole bottle of fragrance oil on half a kilo of wax is exactly 10%).
- At the same time, add the dye (a bag is 3 grams and is enough for 1 kg of wax, so you will need half of it in each batch).
- Mix for 3 minutes, let the wax cool to 60 degrees (may take some time).
- Mix a little one last time to create a uniform texture and pour into jars.
Repeat the process.
Let the candles rest for at least two hours without moving them to achieve a nice, smooth top surface.
Tips:
-
Avoid adding too much fragrance oil (adding up to 10% is sufficient)
-
For optimal scent, let the candle rest for at least one to two weeks before lighting it for the first time.
-
When first lighting the candle, wait for a complete pool of wax oil to reach the sides of the jar before extinguishing it.
-
Leave a wick half a centimeter long, if necessary after multiple lightings, shorten the wick to half a centimeter again.
